Shifting Focus - 30th October - 4th November 2006

The AIR Gallery, 32 Dover Street, Mayfair, London W1
Timed to coincide with the start of Asian Art Week, this exhibition celebrated the spirit and vibrancy of India whilst creating a platform for seven young Indian artists, who have received both National and International recognition.

These works were selected for the freshness and individuality of the artist's vision. Their work does not conform to the European stereotype of 'Indian Art' but instead uses modern, secular iconography to explore both personal concerns and wider, universal issues and questions

The seven selected artists are Alok Bal, Swapna Biswas, Pratul Dash, Shridhar Iyer, George Martin, Sarika Mehta, MSC Satya Sai who come from Delhi, Calcutta and Baroda. The show was conceptualized, curated and organized by Ruchika Soi and Christopher Garnier, both of whom have many years of experience in the international art world, working with both historical and contemporary art.
